Today, we’re announcing an important milestone, NGL has been acquired by Mode Mobile. Mode Mobile brings scale and expertise that will help NGL grow in new ways, and we’re very excited for the future of the app and the community around it.

NGL has been a wild ride since day one, and we’re grateful to every single one of you who’s joined us on it. What started as a weekend side project initially built and designed by two friends, Joao and Raj, became something much bigger. What came next was unexpected…and incredible.

Practically overnight, NGL hit #1 on the App Store across the globe. Millions of people downloaded it every day, making it one of the fastest-growing apps of all time. A small team somehow helped spark a cultural moment that spread across Gen Z, reshaped social conversations, and ultimately grew into a community of over 300 million people.

That’s why we can’t wait to begin this next chapter. It’s another chance to see our creation evolve, reach new audiences, and continue making an impact. And none of it would be possible without you. Through your enthusiastic energy and support, you helped NGL grow from a passion project into a social-media phenomenon.
